Category Legend
According to the Cyprus Tourism Organization, each apartment has to be graded by a particular category. Unlike hotels which are graded with stars, apartments are graded with a letter, such as A, B, and C. The apartments that are graded like this are also known as self catering hotel apartments, meaning that there is no maid service.
Category A
This type of apartment accommodation has the same amenities as a 3 star resort. There are usually on-site restaurants, bars, gardens, swimming pools, cafeterias, and 24 hour customer service at the reception desk. You can choose from 1 or 2 bedroom apartments, as well as studio accommodations. Each is included with a kitchen, living room, air conditioning, and telephone. You can also have the option of maid service if you prefer it.
Category B
Category B has the same comfort as a 2 star resort, and is very similar to a Category A. While there is 24 hour customer service, there is not always an on-site restaurant. However, there is usually a swimming pool, and maid service is available. The same accommodation choices as Category A are available, but the rooms are not always as large.
Category C
These are the most affordable properties in Ayia Napa, with the same facilities as a 1 star resort. A small bar is typically included in the lobby area, as well as reception service. There are 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with a small kitchen, living room, and air conditioning in the bedrooms. In addition, you can choose to have maid service, which is sometimes at an extra cost. Category C apartments are usually family-managed properties.
Another important note is that as in comparison with hotels, apartments are priced per apartment, not per person. The prices also vary depending on your location, and the extra amenities that are offered. The lower category apartments, such as a Category C will offer upgrade facility services at a charge or no extra charge.
